Finally! Nissan has unveiled the world’s first mass-market electric car, called “The Leaf” It has a maximum range of 100 miles and a top speed of about 90mph.
The Leaf is the first of Nissan’s new range of fully electric powered cars, and it doesn’t produce carbon emission. This is a new technology from Nissan. It’s not like other gas powered engines.
The SRP wasn’t disclosed yet. However, there are peculations that it will cost around $17,000 to $20,000 USD. This excludes the cost of the electric battery, which drivers would have to buy at a cost of several thousands pounds, or lease for a monthly fee.
Lastly, this car’s battery can be charged up to 80% capacity in 20 minutes, compared with almost three and a half hours needed for other electric cars. The first batch of cars, primarily for the Asian and North American markets, will be made in Japan and the US.
